Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective

The Bicycle Collective is a community resource that provides the public easy access to bicycles, parts, tools, and workshops in order to promote the bicycle as a main method of transportation.

The site for the Bike Shed was in an area that was being heavily redeveloped. Just southwest of Downtown SLC at the North end of the Ballpark neighborhood, this area is mostly zoned for mixed use residential and is on the border between socio-economic divisions.

It was fundamental to create a building that was approachable, yet spoke to the advancement it was making on the community. It was also important to address the physical transition between Residential spaces to the North and Commercial spaces to the South. The site is also at a junction of Bicycle routes, the local light rail system, and the freeway.
